Ted Nash announced he will team with his saxophone mouthpiece manufacturer, Beechler, to get mouthpieces to young musicians who can’t afford to buy them. After Nash’s recent visit to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Nash, teaching and performing with students of the Guri and Emesp programs, saw a tremendous need for equipment. Many of the students are loaned instruments but have to buy their own mouthpieces. Although it is not a big expense (decent mouthpieces are $50 and up) it is too much for these young students, whose parents often work double shifts and extra hours just to stay even.
Nash announced his drive through Facebook recently and is getting a tremendous response. If anyone has mouthpieces or other equipment to donate, please send to Ted Nash, PO Box 20264, Columbus Circle Station, NY, NY 10023.
